RECOGNITION OF NON-FORMAL AND INFORMAL EDUCATION
Non-formal education
A body of knowledge, skills and competences acquired outside the formal education environment — through courses, clubs, training programmes or work-based learning.
Informal education
Knowledge and skills gained through self-learning in everyday life, based on personal interests and needs. These are mostly experience-based competences.
Recognition of Non-formal and Informal Education
The recognition of non-formal and informal education is governed by the "Rules" approved by Decision No. 279 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 5 August 2020. Under Cabinet Decision No. 508 of 25 December 2020, knowledge assessment in the relevant speciality costs AZN 100, while assessment of skills, competences and experience costs AZN 80 per module.
What are the advantages of a certificate or diploma?
The certificate or diploma confirming the acquired vocational qualification lets the citizen start a professional career. The diploma issued is treated as equivalent to a primary vocational education document and entitles the holder to continue at the next level of vocational education, in accordance with the "Transition Rules" approved by Cabinet Decision No. 173 of 16 April 2019.

Who can apply?
Applicants who completed general secondary education at least 4 years ago, or full secondary education at least 2 years ago, and who have acquired at least 2 years of non-formal or informal education in the relevant speciality.
Stages of the assessment and recognition process:
Document submission: the applicant registers through the registration link.
Document review: the submitted documents are checked for compliance.
Knowledge assessment: theoretical knowledge is assessed through a test.
Skills and experience assessment: practical tasks are used to assess the applicant's skills and experience.
Issuance of the document confirming the vocational qualification: applicants who successfully complete the theoretical and practical stages receive a certificate or diploma.
