Accreditation

Accreditation is carried out in two forms: institutional and programme.

1. Institutional accreditation

Institutional accreditation verifies the compliance of an educational institution's activities with the state education standards and the requirements of other normative legal acts. The process provides a legal basis for confirming the institution's status, establishing student admission limits for each speciality (programme) and extending its operation for the next period. Institutional accreditation is performed by the Education Quality Assurance Agency once every five years and is completed by issuing the relevant quality document — a certificate.

State fee for accreditation

For accreditation of an educational institution the applicant pays a state fee in the amount set by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the State Fee". Under the law the institutional accreditation fee for higher education institutions is AZN 20,000.

2. Programme accreditation

The second form of accreditation is programme accreditation. It is organised on the basis of the relevant classifications for each level of education. It evaluates the material-technical and academic base of the educational programmes taught at the institution, the quality indicators of the academic staff, the alignment of learners' knowledge, skills and competences with labour market requirements, and the implementation of the programme. It provides a legal basis for determining staff training capacity and student limits for each speciality. No state fee is charged for programme accreditation.

Electronic information subsystem for accreditation

Applications for accreditation are submitted exclusively in electronic form. They are registered in the "Education Centralised Information System" (TMİS) and a personal cabinet is opened for each educational institution in the system. Once the application reaches the Agency, a registration password is sent to the contact phone number and e-mail address indicated by the institution. The institution uses the password to access its personal cabinet and follow the status of its application.
